Welcome to the National Honor Society Page. Membership to NHS is open to an 11th or 12th grade student who meet selection criteria. A current cumulative grade point average of 3.5 (seniors) and 3.6 (juniors) makes you scholastically eligible for selection to the National Honor Society. The purpose of NHS is to create enthusiasm for scholarship, stimulate a desire to render service, promote leadership, and develop character. Being considered as a member of a local chapter is an honor and is recognized for its importance by scholarship committees and college consultants.
The Stewartville Chapter follows the national constitution guidelines and does not recognize membership merely as an academic award. But rather, you are selected for being an outstanding student with a record of service and leadership activity within their school and community. The leadership, service and character of all candidates are reviewed by a faculty selection committee.
Upon admittance to NHS, you will also become a member of the Minnesota Honor Society organization. This organization serves a similar purpose to NHS, but with a higher focus on service hours. Each member will participate in a minimum of 4 service hours per month (average) and actively participate in a committee throughout the year. This participation in service commitment will not only help others around you, but help to build your college resume throughout your various service activities.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Melinda Kieffer
